Graduation Information

Earning a high school diploma from Pinnacle Charter Schools signifies a significant academic achievement. To graduate, students must complete a minimum of twenty-two (22) high school credits that align with state requirements. Students are encouraged to exceed these minimum requirements by taking additional coursework to prepare for university entrance.

Graduation Requirements

The State Board of Education sets the statewide minimum requirements for high school graduation, as outlined in Arizona Administrative Code R7-2-302. While districts and charter schools can establish additional credit requirements, the statewide minimum course of study requires students to complete the following:

  • Four Credits of English: This includes coursework in English or English as a Second Language (ESL).
  • Three Credits in Social Studies: This must include one credit of American history (including Arizona history), one credit of world history/geography, one-half credit of American government (including Arizona government), and one-half credit of economics.
  • Four Credits of Mathematics: This includes Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 (or a personal curriculum), and a fourth course containing high school-level math content.
  • Three Credits of Science: This prepares students for proficiency in the statewide science assessment.
  • One Credit of Fine Arts or Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Vocational Education: This ensures a well-rounded education.
  • Seven Credits of Additional Courses: These are prescribed by the local school district governing board or charter school.

To graduate from Pinnacle Charter Schools, students must meet these statewide minimum requirements.

Graduation Preparation and Ceremony

Pinnacle Charter Schools encourages all students preparing to graduate to maintain regular contact with their Intervention Specialist. This ensures they stay on track with their coursework and are informed about important graduation details. Starting in March, graduation packets will be distributed with comprehensive information about the ceremony, including location, cap and gown costs, and other relevant details.

Graduation is a momentous occasion, and we encourage students to invite their families, take photos, and celebrate with their peers. Participating in the graduation ceremony is a significant achievement and an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that has led to this milestone.
